Common and Combined Effluent Treatment Plants
This treatment plant is designed to treat effluents before disposal be it on land, streams, rivers or sewerage system. This type of treatment plant is commonly situated in areas where there are clusters of SSI found.
This treatment is being launched to create a collaborative movement to control population specially treating effluent that originated from SSI. The aim for this plant is to dwindle the cost of treatment while saving the water environment.
Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
This treatment is being used by well-known companies under chemical or pharmaceutical industries to take out non-toxic chemicals or materials from it and also used to refine water.
If you haven’t heard of this, ETP is actually a plant that treats waste water and industrial effluents.
In the pharmaceutical industry, ETP is being used to get rid of effluents present in bulk drugs. During the process, there are different contaminants and effluents are mass- produced. The aim of ETP is to take out large quantity of organics, polymers and dirt from the medicated items. The methods being used are evaporation, drying method and other additional approach such as filtration, centrifugation, incineration etc. It is relevant to treat such effluents in order to avert pollution of controlled water.
Sewage Treatment Plants (STP)
The process of this treatment involves chemical, physical and biological procedures to take out both biological and chemical contaminants. It aims is to create a waste stream and a sludge fit to either reuse it back or discharge it.
In the pre-treatment process, it takes out the materials from raw waste water to avert it from damaging or clogging the skimmers and pumps of the PMC(Primary Treatment Clarifiers). These items are leaves, trash and tree limbs.
- STP’s Primary Treatment Stage
In this stage, sewage will run through huge tanks known as “primary clarifiers”. The tank is so huge that the sludge and greasy substances float and be skimmed off. This stage is created to produce both processed and treated sludge and biologically treated homogenous liquids.
The tanks being used contain mechanical scrapers that drive the gathered sludge into a hopper that is situated at the base of the tank. When the sludge gets into the base, the sludge will go through several treatment stages.
- STP’s Secondary Treatment Stage
The second stage of STS is devised to degrade all biological contents such as food waste, human waste, detergent and soap. For municipal plants, they treat the sewage by using a process called aerobic biological procedure. For this process to work, the biota needs both the substrate and oxygen to live. Secondary treatment can be categorised into two: the Fixed -film and suspended growth.
The process of fixed-film includes biological contractors and filter. In this category, the sewage passes over the area in which the biomass grows. On the other hand, in the suspended system, the biomass is combined into the sewage.
- STP’s Activated Sludge
This plant encompasses different processes and mechanisms that utilise liquefied oxygen to advocate the growth of a floe that gets rid of organic items. This procedure bounds materials that will turn ammonia into nitrogen gas.
